The beginning of life,

the future of food.

Algae can generally be divided into two groups - micro and macroalgae. Macroalgae are what we normally think of as seaweed. Microalgae are single-celled free floating organisms. You can think of them as tiny microscopic seaweed. Spirulina is a type of microalgae.

A drop of life.

Microalgae were among the first organisms on Earth. They actually were the ones who created the oxygen in the atmosphere which allowed the rest of us to thrive. They are still responsible for over 70% of our oxygen production.

Today the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are increasing to dangerous levels. We believe that it is time to let them heal this planet, again.

Unrivalled nutrition.

It is estimated that there are currently up to 1 million different strains of algae yet to be discovered! These strains all contain their own unique nutrients. From bright pigments, to high value bioactives to high quality protein to Omega 3 fish oil. Whatever you are looking for, algae have it. That is why, while we are starting with Spirulina, it is only the beginning.

As nature intended.

When it comes to sustainability, algae are second to none. They can be grown on salt water and on non-arable land so they don’t compete with other crops. They are seasonless, so they grow year round and use less water than regular crops. They capture carbon dioxide around 50 times more efficiently than trees. Their protein yields per square meter is up to 7 times that of soy and 100 times that of animal based proteins.

It’s a no-brainer really.

From pharmaceuticals to food to biofuels, algae are revolutionising our world. The opportunities are endless, algae will save our planet if we let them.
